History of Minokamo Islamic Center

The Minokamo Islamic Center was initiated from the vision of establishing a permanent Islamic center that could serve the growing Muslim community in Minokamo, Gifu, Japan. The idea emerged from the need for a larger and more permanent place of worship and community activity, particularly for Indonesian Muslims and other Muslim communities living in Japan.

The project plans to acquire an unused and bankrupt pachinko building and transform the existing property into a comprehensive Islamic Center. The building and its surrounding land offer significant space, including a large parking area capable of accommodating approximately 120 cars, making the site suitable for a major community and religious center.

The initiative is also inspired by the growing Indonesian community in Japan. Based on data shared by the Indonesian Ambassador, there are approximately 190,000 Indonesians living in Japan. The Minokamo Islamic Center is therefore envisioned not only as a place of worship, but also as a center for education, community activities, social interaction, and the introduction of Islam to the wider Japanese community.

The project is being developed through collective support and contributions from the Muslim community. Every contribution, regardless of its size, is considered part of a shared effort to establish a lasting Islamic institution in Japan.

The establishment of the Minokamo Islamic Center is expected to become a long-term legacy for the Muslim community and a bridge between Muslims and Japanese society. Through religious, educational, and social activities, the Islamic Center aims to contribute positively to the local community while promoting greater understanding of Islam in Japan.

The founders and supporters believe that the establishment of a permanent mosque and Islamic Center is an investment in the future of the Muslim community. With collective effort, sincere contributions, and the support of donors and communities around the world, the Minokamo Islamic Center is envisioned to become one of the important Islamic centers serving Muslims in Japan.
